Rapid Link, Inc. Provides International Calling At Reasonable Cost
Rapid Link has strong a link with South Africa. South Africa’s need for VoIP is great because of the expansive rural area with a lack of infrastructure. Rapid Link’s initial South African function was to be a support office to agents and resellers in Africa. The Rapid Link office in Rosebank, Johannesburg, has been in operation since 1997.
In May of 2006 Rapid Link delivered to the market its new Cellular Intercept product in South African marketplace Rapid Link Inc.. Rapid Link is a provider of distributed telecomms services to US military personnel, has announced the launch of its new Cellular Intercept product designed specifically for the South African market.
Rapid Link developed Cellular Intercept to reduce telecomms costs for consumers by delivering a combination of VoIP technologies and traditional telecommunication-based services.
Due to the ever-increasing demand for cost-effective international dialing services, the decision was made in 2002 to not only offer support to various stakeholders, but to also sell direct to corporate customers under the Rapid Link banner.
In February 2003, the Rapid Link World-wide Customer Care department moved its operation to South-Africa, combining the function of local support and world-wide customer care.
Several statutory restrictions have recently been lifted on the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in South Africa. Previously, VoIP could only be utilised by the incumbent telecommunications operator, Telkom, the Second National Operator (SNO) and under serviced area licensees (USALs).
This means new opportunities and cost savings for both network service providers and consumers.
VoIP is the last mile solutions around the world and particularly in South Africa.
