Clearly Canadian Beverage Projections for Growth Industry

No Stopping Bottled Water

Classic Pick

Clearly Canadian was recently purchased by two youthful turnaround specialists.

The US$20-billion North American alternative beverage market in which Clearly Canadian operates is growing faster than any other sector. Carbonated drinks dropped in volume last year for the first time ever with a decline of 0.2%, and analysts expect a further drop of 0.6% this year.

Within the beverage industry the United States functional drinks market is forecast to have a value of $6.7 billion by 2010 which is an increase of 29.5% since 2005. The compound annual growth rate of the market in the period 2005-2010 is predicted to be 5.3%.

Clearly Canadian, a pioneer in the New Age flavored sparkling water category, re-launched its entire line of sparkling flavored waters, with new packaging and, in addition to the standard flavor line of Cherry, Blackberry, Raspberry and Strawberry, a new nocalorie extension in Pink Grapefruit and Blueberry has been introduced.

The segment that most retailers are monitoring closely these days is enhanced waters because it does represent the growth segment of the industry; be it flavors or nutrients, enhanced waters seem to be one surefire way of expanding the bottled water category.

This is how Clearly Canadian intends to capture more than the average share of this growth industry:

* Established Products Maintained
* New Products Introduced
* Celebrity Filled Marketing Blitz Initiated including Steve Nash
* Developing Reality TV Show
* New Key Distribution Deals
* Trimmed Payroll
* Cash Position Exceeds $6M
* Works in International Safe Drinking Water Campaign

Based in Vancouver, B.C., Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation markets premium alternative beverages and products, including Clearly Canadian® sparkling flavoured water and Clearly Canadian O+2® oxygen enhanced water beverage which are distributed in the United States, Canada and various other countries.

Since its inception, the Clearly Canadian brand has sold over 90 million cases equating to over 2 billion bottles worldwide.

Clearly Canadian appeals to a youthful market that identifies with sports figures. Steve Nash clearly fills this bill.

In addition to the Steve Nash endorsement is a proven marketing truth that consumers are concerned with doing good and are choosing to align themselves with brands which are helping them be good or do good. Today’s consumer is shaping a new ‘energy generation’ and these water brands, in spite of their ingredient, marketing or philosophy variations, seem to have a common goal and are maximizing a growing trend–a reinterpretation of energy for the 21st Century that focuses on positive change. Clearly Canadian is marketing its impact upon and influencing environmental energy through brand initiatives which play to the sensibilities of today’s social conscience, ‘ethical energy,’ To this end Clearly Canadian has partnered with Global Water, a U.S. non-profit organization dedicated to establishing safe water supplies in developing countries. It will finance the creation of clean drinking water systems in Central and South American villages through corporate donations and fundraising events. It plans to build two water systems in Guatemala and Nicaragua, with the help of Global Water, by the end of 2006. The sparkling water company intends to complete 20 projects by 2010.
How would you turn a company around that was already strongly positioned in a growth industry?

Trim overhead — done!
Build up cash — done!
Employ cutting edge marketing for the product niche — done!
Packaging and graphics that appeal to your demographic — done!
Develop products that build on your base — done!

Now, sit back, grab a Clearly Canadian and decide for yourself — the techicals are looking good as well! click here.
