Alteon Inc. (NYSE: AAA) shares climbed $0.005, or 9 percent, to 6 cents on volume of 80,500 today, an increase reflecting yesterday’s news that the company signed a $32 million acquisition contract with the worldwide effect pigmets business of the Wholstenholme Group Ltd. The Whostenholme Group consists of bronze and aluminum pigments, as well as printing inks used for graphic arts, coatings and plastic industries. According to the press release, Wholstenholme generated $38 million in sales last year.
Shares of Swiss Medica Inc. (OTCBB: SWME) jumped $0.0035, up 70 percent, to $0.0085 on volume of 255,500 this morning, rocking from yesterday’s news the company filed its 10KSB for the fiscal year 2006 and its 10QSB for the three months ended March 31, 2007. The company announced it has “undertaken a restructuring” of its balance sheet, focusing on debt reduction.
