Formed by a group of retired energy industry executives, Alternate Energy Holdings (Pink Sheets: AEHI) was founded to assist the country in becoming less energy interdependent. One of the company’s biggest projects, building a nuclear power plant in Idaho, is underway. Alternate Energy expects the Idaho Energy Complex to have the capability to generate ethanol for less than $1.00 per gallon. Ethanol’s current going rate is about $2.00 per gallon. The Energy Complex is a proposed commercial nuclear power plan/bio-fuel generation facility anticipated to generate enough power to accommodate Idaho’s growing demand for electricity while eliminating fossil fuels as a power source.
The company plans to utilize the waste heat expelled by nuclear power plants, which normally goes directly into the atmosphere, to produce ethanol, methane and electricity. Additionally, sugar beets and potatoes (feedstocks common to Idaho crops) can be effective for ethanol that may minimize production overhead.
Other projects under way include coal to diesel fuel, the method used by Hitler during World War II when he ran out of petroleum; injecting ethanol into the stream of natural gas going into a turbine to produce power, reducing the cost of natural gas; mini-reactor, or small nuclear reactors, an idea brought back from the 1950s and 1960s; and lightening into electricity.
The company has come up with a patent pending design that allows for the capture of a part of a lightening strike, which is then converted into electricity.
Alternate Energy offers alternative energy solutions focusing on the purchase, optimization and construction of green energy sources, largely concentrating on nuclear powered energy plants.
Among current projects undertaken by the company, Alternate Energy has developed an economical, environmentally-friendly fuel additive the company’s Web site said will reduce the cost of natural gas energy production by 25 percent to 40 percent. The additive is projected to be able to burn in gas heaters in over 50 percent of U.S. homes without modification.
