Computers and Cell phones … it is unbelievable to think exactly how advanced technology has become over the years. You can do practically everything over your cell phone, and the advancement of paying your bills online right from your computer has taken away any paper trail of bills, making paying them a lot more convenient. However, sometimes it isn’t so convenient for the merchant to accept credit card payments, especially if they are stuck in an area where access to a standard phone line maybe limited or unavailable. A few of these occupations include plumbing, limousine and taxi services, furniture delivery, trade shows and flea markets.
Through its subsidiary, AIRCHARGE, Pipeline Data (OTCBB: PPDA) has teamed up with Dobson Communications Corporation (NASDAQ DCEL) to create a solution so that these mobile merchants can now accept credit card payments over BlackBerry devices.
James L. Plappert, chief marketing officer of Aircharge, said the addition of Dobson Communications to the lineup of major wireless carriers currently using AIRCHARGE payment processing services should lead to company expansion and a jump in sales.
“The addition of the Dobson sales channel and customer base expands the market for our product offerings,” Plappert said in a release. “It also enables the large and growing number of mobile business owners who utilize the Dobson BlackBerry solution to experience the convenience, savings and security of accepting credit card payments wirelessly.
The AIRCHARGE payment-processing software can simply be loaded onto the customer’s BlackBerry to be compatible with virtually any merchant processing account. The latest AIRCHARGE software, as well as the latest version of AirPro swipe/printer, includes upgrades to the credit card reader, printing speed and battery life.
The JaveME software for wireless payment processing is available on the BlackBerry 8300g, 8800g, 8700g, 8100g, 7780, 7290, 7280, 7130g and 7100g.
