Stock markets had mixed results today as only the Dow made positive gains in an other wise slow day of trading. Although there were not a lot of companies making news we still had companies that made some big moves. The following companies saw positive gains in their stock price today releasing interesting news this morning.Composite Tech Corp. (OTCBB: CPTC) announced today that its subsidiary, DeWind, received certification for its D8.2 wind turbine. The news sparked growth in the stock price, increasing share value to $1.81. This is an increase of 22 percent, or 33 cents, on volume of 8.1 million. DeWind manufactures wind turbines and plans to sell 18 turbines during 2007 for revenues near $40 million.
Dynacq Healthcare (Nasdaq: DYII) had a monster day during trading hours. The share price of Dynacq rose 220 percent, or $5.41, to $7.87. This increase followed news that Dynacq had third-quarter income of $2.6 million, compared to a loss of $818,000 in the third quarter last year. The gain in income resulted from a 61 percent jump in revenue to $12.6 million.
Bill Gates’ Cascade Investments reported a 12.8 percent ownership in PlanetOut Inc. (Nasdaq: LGBT); the company also announced the closing of two of its global offices. Shares of LGBT increased 18 percent, or 29 cents, to $1.90 today. The company runs gay.com and other properties geared at the homosexual community.
Shandong Zhouyuan (OTCBB: SZSN), a China seed and nursery company, achieved sales income of $256, 000 from its seed segment. The income increased over the last year by $70,000. Shandong distributes to over 20 different Chinese countries. Shares rose today 10 cents, or 30 percent, to 43 cents on volume of 1.8 million.
