The Security With Advanced Technology Systems Company (Nasdaq: SWAT) recently told Market News First that the testing of its updated remote-user Internet-based security system – otherwise known as “CommandGrid” – was going well.”It’s basically a security solution that we’re designing mainly for small businesses … that’s Internet-based,” SWAT Systems spokesperson Heather Black said. “So anyone with computer access can access the security.”
According to Black, the CommandGrid system is an Internet-based client that functions much like any secure Web site – you enter your account’s user name and password, and then access your system. What’s different is that the system accessed isn’t anything in your computer files, but the building itself. Through this system, you can lock and unlock doors, turn the lights off and on, alter the HVAC systems, and generally control the access to your building.
“Currently, there isn’t anything like this on the market today,” Black said. “This is very simple, it’s basically something that the IT person can plug into the network … and it gives them access so they can control this off-site.
“This is something we’re really exciting for, and it’s going to be launching in the next couple of months,” Black added.
Granted, any Web-based security system is circumspect to hackers, crackers, and other security threats. However, SWAT Systems has reportedly tested and retested the site’s security features, and secures the password and account information on the site using an SSL Digital Certificate, the same technology most banks and credit card companies use to encrypt their information.
“It’s completely secure and password protected,” Black concluded. “This is proven technology.”
