ReelTime (RLTR.PK) Snags VOD Rights to Two Production Houses

With the addition of World Wide Entertainment, Reeltime.com (RLTR:PK) has added all kinds of classic Hollywood films, children’s titles and family movies – just to name a few genres – to its already vast library of videos available via the Internet.Reeltime offers the technology that allows viewers to watch DVD quality, streaming video on a PC screen or television, without the buffering present in other similar offerings. According to Reeltime executive Beverly Zaslow, adding the Australia-based World Wide Entertainment’s library to Reeltime’s offerings will mean users get more options in extreme sports, fashion, celebrities, science, space, nature, children’s titles, family titles, environment, nature, animal titles and short clips, along with several Hollywood classics.

“With all of the broadband companies that have approached us over the last year and that we have seriously looked at, ReelTime.com is the only broadband network that we are going with at this time,” said Alexander Peh, World Wide Entertainment vice president of Northern American Sales, in a press release. “We made this decision because we believe in their technology and have been in talks with them for over 12 months.”

The two companies announced the deal today, and Reeltime users will be able to access the additional programming on subscription or pay-per-view basis.

“World Wide has a wonderful library filled with compelling reality and documentary shows. They have an exceptional number of extreme sports titles which we are finding are very popular with our viewers,” said Zaslow.

Earlier this month, the company also entered into an agreement for video on demand with Los Angeles-based Cinema Libre Studios, adding more award-winning features and documentaries to the mix.

Titles include “Conventioneers,” an updated version of the Shakespeare classic Romeo and Juliet, but set at a presidential convention. The feature won the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards and John Cassavetes’ Award and Best Feature at the Florida Film Festival. The Best Documentary of the Hollywood Film Festival, “Empire in Africa,” is also among the listings, as well as “Giuliani Time,” which documents Rudy Giuliani’s life prior to Sept. 11, 2001. Documentaries about the war-torn region of Darfur and Iraqi oil will also be offered.

“We are very excited to enter this dynamic digital delivery system with ReelTime which has proven itself to be a leader in the field,” Cinema Libre studio head Andrew Schrieber said in a press release.

“More than ever before, we live in a politically charged world, and Cinema Libre offers programming from filmmakers who are not afraid to present their views to an audience ready and willing to listen,” Zaslow said. “Their special brand of films reflect the concerns and events of our times, providing an important point of view to the world.”
