Amplification’s scientists have invented, patented and developed an extremely sensitive photodetector technology that brings the benefits of solid state technology to one of the last strongholds of vacuum tubes; low level light detection, and that is expected to provide important commercial advances in imaging, biomedical, lab, security and communications applications.
This platform semiconductor technology allows amplification of weak signals with very low noise, has been patented to encompass detection of signals other than light, and thus could in principle also be used to create biological, radiological, electrical, and chemical sensors. It has the potential to transform a number of industries from medical diagnostics and drug development to telecommunications and security.
