NavStar Technologies announced today that they have formed a strategic partnership with Audex Telecom Industrial Co., Ltd. to provide low cost, feature-rich, easy to use navigation products. As terms of the agreement, there will be a strong focus on developing NavStar’s Voice Navigator(TM) with a goal to market the product in the 2nd quarter of next year.
Douglas Pritt, President & CEO of NavStar Technologies, stated, “This partnership brings together the 10+ years of Bluetooth knowledge with hands-free car kit expertise that Audex has acquired and the Voice Navigation core focus that NavStar has been developing over the past 3 years. Audex is one of the leading manufacturers in the world of Bluetooth products, their approach to product design (‘New lifestyles’) is aggressive and their manufacturing quality is excellent.” He added, “We are very excited about the relationship.”
Both companies will commit engineering resources to deliver the Voice Navigator. Bob Lau from Audex Telecom commented, “We are pleased to be working with NavStar and believe that a combined Audex hands-free car kit with NavStar voice navigation capability has a significant place not only in the U.S. but also in China and other regions of the world.”
NavStar Technologies’ innovative approach is forming a new category in the maturing and quickly growing GPS navigation industry. By using only voice input in a complete hands-free GPS environment, potential driving distractions are reduced and drivers’ eyes stay on the road while still receiving accurate turn-by-turn directions. Across the nation, legislation is placing restrictions on cell phones allowing only hands-free devices. The Voice Navigator(TM) system complies with all current legal requirements, and more importantly, for the future legislation to come.
