Some exciting times could be ahead for Fonix Corporation (OTCBB: FNIX). The company just announced an increase in revenue for its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fonix Speech Inc., for both the six-month period and second quarter for the period ended June 30, 2007.Fonix Speech Inc. is a speech recognition and text-to-speech technology company that provides value-added speech solutions. The company offers voice solutions for mobile devices, interactive video games, toys, appliances and computer telephony systems.
Six-month revenues were estimated around $1 million, up from the $639,000 it reported last year. In addition, second-quarter revenue showed a nice increase as well, up to $644,000 compared to $367,000 during last year’s quarter.
“This growth represents recurring revenue from certain niche markets in the speech technology industry, particularly our success with some of the largest electronic dictionary manufacturers in the world,” said Tim K. Hong, vice president of Fonix Games, in a statement.
The next financials maybe even better with an announcement made late June that Fonix Speech, Inc. will be teaming up with Nintendo’s Wii Third Party Tools program. This union would enable developers to integrate Fonix VoiceIn Game Edition and Fonix VoiceIn Karaoke Edition voice recognition technologies into certain Wii game titles.
Hong said the partnership is a big step to becoming the leader in speech technologies provided to the gaming industry.
“Offering VoiceIn to Wii developers represents the latest coup for Fonix in our quest to be the No. 1 supplier of speech technologies to the gaming industry,” Hong boasted in a company press release. “Fonix technology nicely complements Nintendo’s philosophy of fun combined with innovation.”
Hong added that this could open up many new avenues that would make the gaming experience even better than it is today.
“VoiceIn allows for new and interesting player interfaces via voice commands, while VioceIn Karaoke makes it possible to increase the accuracy and quality of Karaoke games,” said Hong.
