Earlier this afternoon, Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. announced that it has executed a joint venture and marketing agreement with Victor S.r.l. of Italy for the development and marketing of specialty products utilizing its Bend Sensor® technology for the auto, marine and truck industry in Europe.
The Bend Sensor product consists of a coated substrate, such as plastic, that changes in electrical conductivity as it is bent. Electronic systems connect to the sensor and measure with fine detail the amount of bending or movement that occurs. The single layer design of the Bend Sensor eliminates many of the problems associated with conventional sensors such as dust, dirt, liquids, and heat and pressure affects.
Victor develops a wide variety of products for use in automobiles and trucks for both their OEM and retail clientele. Flexpoint and Victor have been developing custom sensors together for use in steering wheels equipped with Victor’s patented RimSense Technology. They are also adapting Flexpoint’s patented Bend Sensor® Technology into custom switches to be integrated into the controls mounted on the steering wheel.
