Patrick Industries, Inc. reported net income of $0.9 million, or $0.09 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2009. This was a significant improvement from the net loss of $69.2 million, or $7.59 per diluted share, in the same quarter of 2008. The loss in the fourth quarter of 2008 included a deferred tax asset valuation allowance of approximately $18.0 million, or $1.97 per diluted share. Nexen Inc. reported a successful deepwater well in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, located at the Appomattox prospect, in Mississippi Canyon blocks 391 and 392. The well was drilled in approximately 7,200 feet of water, to a depth of 25,000 feet, and hit 425 feet of net oil pay.
