AMD Invests $7.5 M in Transmeta (TMTA)

Shares of Transmeta (Nasdaq: TMTA) were up 20 cents, or 28 percent, to 90 cents on volume of nearly 8 million this morning, reeling from yesterday's news of a multi-million dollar investment.Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE: AMD) invested $7.5 million in Transmeta in exchange for preferred stock, though the number of shares has not yet been released. Yesterday was a busy day for the Fort Worth division of the SEC. Earlier that morning, news of the SEC's recent complaint against Dallas-based bank holdings company AmeriFirst Funding Inc. - and the subsequent investor fraud allegations - were leaked to Market News First.
