Fed Keeps Rates Unchanged For Ninth Straight Meeting

The Federal Reserve kept the overnight federal funds rate steady at 5.25 percent for the ninth straight meeting, and it said that inflation remained its main concern despite signs of slowing growth. The economy grew at annual rate of 3.4 percent in the second quarter of 2007 after a revised rate of 0.6 percent in the first three months of the year. The Fed believes that expansion will slow in the second half of the year and have set predictions of 2.25 percent to 2.5 percent for this time period. Free Antibiotics Thanks to Publix Super Markets

Everyone knows the prescription drug market is not only competitive, but is often highly scrutinized due to healthcare and insurance policies. Publix Super Markets is putting all of that to rest, offering free 14-day supplies of seven common antibiotics at its 684 pharmacies in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. This is an interesting reply to Wal-Mart, Costco, Walgreen's, and CVS's low-cost and discount programs on drugs in recent months. Publix is taking things a step further, however, by not only providing customers with free supplies of 14-day antibiotics, but by not limiting the number of prescriptions customers can…
