3Com Corp. (COMS) Wins $45 Million Patent Infringement Case Against Realtek

3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) yesterday evening announced that on April 9, 2008, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California awarded the company $45.3 million for past patent infringement by Realtek Semiconductor Corporation (TSE: 2379). The four patent infringements relates to 3Coms network interface technology and parallel processing technology, which improves the data transfer between a personal computer and a network. On the strength of an upgrade from Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), chipmaker Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) led a Nasdaq rally up 29.58 points to a Thursday close of 2,351.70.
