EMCORE Corporation (EMKR) and XinAo Announce First Deployment of Terrestrial Power System in China

EMCORE Corporation (Nasdaq: EMKR) provides semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber-optic, satellite and terrestrial solar power markets. The company today released an update regarding its collaborative efforts with XinAo Group, one of China’s largest energy companies. EMCORE, with XinAo, announced the first deployment of a concentrator photovolataics (CPV) system in China. Unemployed to Receive Additional Jobless Benefits

President Bush has signed into law a bill to keep unemployment checks flowing to unemployed Americans through the holiday season. The government recently reported that the number of workers filing new claims last week for jobless benefits was at its highest level in 16 years. The signing of this bill provides seven more weeks of government unemployment payments, and an additional 20 weeks for those in states with the highest unemployment rates. According to Brad Reback, an Oppenheimer & Co. analyst, Microsoft Corp.’s shares could climb as much as 22 percent in the near term.
