Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) is presenting its advanced technology at the electronica 2008 conference, which started Tuesday. AMCC, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif. will for the first time demonstrate its 10 Gbps ethernet backplane connectivity and advancedTCA reference design at Europe's largest technology trade fair in Munich, Germany, Nov. 11-14. 10 Gbps Ethernet technology will show how backplane signaling can be implemented in ultra-high-speed systems through the Molex GbX I-Trac reference backplane. Oil Dips Below $60 – Gasoline Still Headed Down

For the seventeenth week since July 4th, retail gas prices fell as crude oil saw its lowest price in twenty months. While the national average at the pump is at $2.22, some Americans saw prices approaching $1.50. The average price per gallon has fallen more than thirty percent in the last thirty days. Meanwhile, on the NYME, light sweet crude for December delivery has fallen to $59.40 a barrel, and continues to trade erratically. In the most pronounced effort yet to aid ailing homeowners, the government and the mortgage industry are working together to expedite the process of restructuring the terms of hundreds of thousands of defaulted mortgages now held by government loan agents Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The two companies, now operated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, intend to implement the new plan on December 15th.
