China Proposes Economic Stimulus Package to the Tune of $586 Billion

China joins other major economies such as the United States, Japan and Germany which have already introduced their own stimulus plans. China’s plan calls for higher spending on roads, airports and other infrastructure, tax deductions for exporters and more aid to the poor and farmers. Shares of General Motors hit a 60-year low today on market worries that the automotive giant will burn through their cash reserves in the first quarter of 2009.
