Apache Corp. announced a successful well on its acreage under lease in the Faghur Basin in Western Egypt. The West Kalabsha I-1X well encountered 105 feet of net pay in the Safa formation. Gastar Exploration Ltd. reported net income of $12.9 million, or $0.26 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2009. This was an improvement from the net loss of $10.0 million, or $0.24 per share, in the same quarter of 2008.
