All of the major averages dropped during the past week as a flood of bad news in the financial sector and ongoing concerns about the housing and credit markets weighed on investor sentiment. The Dow dropped 507 points, bringing its year to date loss to 8.8%. Similarly the S&P 500 also posted a loss of 76 points, finishing the week at 1325 and bringing its year to date loss to 9.8%.
